Ballcock

I love being a homeowner but what I don't love are household repairs. Yesterday, my toilet starting making a funny noise when I flushed it and when I took off the lid, water shot out at me.

I think it's my ballcock.

I really have no idea what it is. I just like saying ballcock.

Ballcock.

Say it with me.

Ballcock.

  6. Ballcock. It comes from the Greek, "ballos" meaning round, and the "coccus" meaning back. So it's the round thing in the back of your toilet tank. Or not.

  10. The pic is of a Brass Ballcock, of course. You could go with plastic but they aren't as sturdy as the brass ones...LOL

  13. Ballcock. Maybe your toilet was choking on whatever you may have deposited there?

  14. @Julie! You're so funny.

    @Akelamalu,
    Isn't it kooky? I mean, who thought of it?

    @Peach Tart,
    See? I knew you would.

    @R. Jacob,

    Balderdash. That's a good one, too!

  17. If you have a ballcock, then you have WAY more problems than a malfunctioning toilet!

  18. Not to be confused with "cockball" which is a fun, yet potentially quite painful, indoor sport.
