I applaud Glamour for showcasing "Real Women".

And way to go, Dove, for your "Campaign for Real Beauty".

But, Playboy....

Apparently, you're attempting to broaden your demographic. But who the hell does that include??

  2. Marge?
    A centerfold?

    Hmmm.
    I'd give that a thumbs down. However, maybe they are running short of 'real' women to use for models. They all seem to be assembled out of plastic nowadays.

  3. I think Dove should take over Playboy... no, wait... they're too classy for that.

  4. I love that! Marge is the playmate of the decade! Next, they will put Barbie on the cover!

  5. Hey Chrissy,

    I applaud this kind of thinking (though it's commercial common sense, not altruism). The Dove ladies look just like any number of women I know; definitely a better role model. But the Glamour "cast"? Hmmm, they're not the "size zero" generation, but they're conspicuously model-ish. Not sure about Marge!

  6. Well, let us think hard about the executives in charge of this issue. Hugh's gotta be what? 80-something years old by now? Maybe he'd had one too many cocktails, closed his eyes and instead of pointing to one of 3 models on the table, hit hit the ad for the Simpsons instead. His underlings prob said, "Genius! Everyone'll buy the issue...just to see what the hell we'd put inside!" (I gotta admit...I'm wondering!?)
    Great post!

  8. OMG...I can't stop laughing at PoMo's comment!!

    That was BRILLIANT!

    It's about time magazines started using REAL women for their ads because in my opinion it's REAL beauty. And like IndigoWrath said..."a much better role model."

  9. There really isn't much of a difference between Marge and the usual centerfolds. They are fabricated in someone's imagination and engineered to fit a drawing.

  10. Well come on, we saw Bart's little thingy in the cinematic masterpiece known as The Simpsons Movie... isn't it fair that Marge get equal air time!

  11. Yeah, I saw this this elsewhere and my first thought was 'why'.

    My second thought was all about Jessica Rabbit. It was a lot more fun that the first.

    Ahem.

  12. THAN the first. Yeah, that's what I meant to say.

    Typos everywhere. Bad me.

  13. Yeah, I mean, if they're gonna do cartoon sensuality, I think Betty Rubble would be a good place to start. Jane Jetson was kinda hot too, maybe a mother-daughter issue with Judy.

    Wow, did I watch too much TV as a kid or what?

  14. At least we're seeming to move away from the size zero culture.

  15. Lets hear it for real women with bodies like ours!! I feel better looking at a model who looks like a real person.

  16. @Meaghan,
    Thanks for the encouraging words. You're such an inspiration!

    @f8hasit,
    Yes. How weird is that?

    @CatLadyLarew,
    HA! You're right.

    @Lee the Hot Flash Queen,
    But don't they have Barbie on the cover every month now?

  17. @Indigo Wrath,
    Yay, for man who agrees! Yes, the Glamour girls are a little more....mmmm.....glamorous, I guess.

    @Kathryn,
    He's a hundred if he's a day. I think it would be far less creepier for him to have sex with Marge Simpson than those young girls.

    @PoMo,
    HA! Well, I suppose if they don't you could always erase them.

    @Ron,
    You're silly. Yes, long overdue, I say!

    @Fumbling confidence,
    Great point!

    @AkaPJTheGreat,
    We saw Bart's thingy in the movie? I have to get that in my Netflix queue.

  18. @Matthew,

    I knew what you meant. :-)

    There are a lot of freakos out there. Just google cartoon porn. Not that I've ever done that or anything.

    @Knucklead,
    Mother-daughter. I loke it. I think with an extreme makeover, Velma could surprise us.

    @idifficult,
    Fab, isn't it? I don't think I was born a zero.

    @Secretia,
    Yeah! All hail the curvy girl!

  20. I have long been their target audience and I would not buy that magazine based upon that cover. I guess they will be going out business soon.

  21. Hahaha, that's so funny! I absolutely loved Glamour's "Real Women" article...I actually posted on it a couple days ago!

  22. I really thought Playboy would prefer Lois from family Guy over Marge.

  23. OR WILMA FLINTSTONE!

    Apologies for the link, but this is a scene from a Brit show called RED DWARF. These guys sum up my feelings about Wilma perfectly.

  24. @AngelBaby,
    I agree about Dove. Gosh, wish we got that message when we were young.

    I can't believe they ran out, either. Geez, they should just put me in there!

    @Laoch of Chicago,
    You mean you don't read it for the articles?

    @Margaret,
    Yep, the tides are turnin'.

    @Rae,
    So funny you said that. One of the guys at work said the same thing!

    @IndigoWrath,
    You like those redheads, do you? I'll have to take a look...

  25. Marge Simpson is the perfect Playboy model. She'll do whatever they want, look however they want, never get old and never have any doubts about her career choices.

  26. Mia,
    I don't know. I think she's too smart...

    ReplyDelete
  27. She married Homer. How smart can she be?
