Athletic perfection

My sister bought me this Iron Gym pullup bar last Christmas. I HAD to have it so I could get in shape. My goal was to be able to do 20 pull ups by my birthday in July. A little lofty, perhaps, but I was confident that I could do it.

How many can I do? Drum roll, please.....

One.

Okay, 1/2 of one. But that's 1/2 of one more than I could do in December!

Hey, Dara! You better hope I never learn to swim, my friend, or you're goin' down.

  1. 20 pull-ups was hard to do even when I looked like Dara, so don't beat yourself up too hard. I recommend leg lifts. Just hang there and raise your knees to your chest.

  2. You looked like a buff, blonde 40-something swimmer?

  3. You can do it. Hang in there.

"Hang in there" . . . I crack myself up.

  4. I love Dara, but she is a freak of nature. This from the woman who is in denial that the gym exists these days...

  5. The more I get to know about you, the more I see our similarities.

I bought one of those things YEARS ago and I ended up using it to hang my clothes on after I ironed them!!!!

Sorry, but I have to ask...

...is Dara a man or a woman?

    HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

  6. I hate all those photos of Dara. It makes those of us who are still hiding behind the "I had a baby, so it's okay if I'm a little heavier than I was" look like hags.

    Damn her.
Oh, and yeah...my baby is now 10. I guess I too need to learn to do pull ups. Whatever!
    :-)

  7. You're so silly, Chris. Glad you crack yourself up.

  8. Vanessa,
You and me both. I just have no motivation lately. She is a freak of nature, though.

  9. Ron,

I used to hang my clothes on my Total Gym before I finally sold it. We're pathetic.

  10. Nancy,

I know! And she makes those of us who don't have kids but gained sympathy weight when our friends were pregnant look bad too.

  11. Ah...thank you for the clarification, Carlos.

  12. See what I have to live with?

Anyway, like you, I used to hang my clothes on my tread mill to dry. Then I finally had to throw it away because Niki chewed up the track. Oh darn! I guess one day I'll have to uhm...replace it.

Props to you for at least putting the pull-up thingy up. You go girl!!

  13. Theresa,

    I know. You're a saint.:-)

You mean exercise equipment isn't supposed to double as a clothing rack?
