I woke up in jail this morning

I know that aging is an inevitable evil that comes with the progression of time.

I do.

But I still want to remember the singers and actors that I had crushes on as a young girl the way they were THEN, not the way they are now.

Case in point.

Today, there was a headline on our local news website that David Cassidy, AKA Keith Partridge, was arrested on DUI charges in New York. He lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida but was in upstate New York for some event or another. Since it's his second offense, it's a felony.

Really, David?

I bet Keith would never do this. He wouldn't do anything to tarnish the velvet vest wearing, clean cut American family image that the Partridge Family represented.

Look at him. He's flawless. When I was little, I used to dream that I was Laurie Partridge and that Keith was in love with me.

I know...I know. That would make him my brother but c'mon, it worked for Cathy and Chris in Flowers in the Attic a few years later. Why shouldn't it work for me?

I'm just going to close my eyes and go back there now...before DWI's and Botox....Shhhh........

  1. My sister Loooovvvvvvvvved him. Her walls were full of Tiger Beat centerfolds. We always watched the show. Sadly I knew the songs too. Got one running thru my head now. My favorite was Shirley, Mama Partrige. I guess I liked them older back then.

Time hasn't set well with him it appears.

  2. Ohhh.... nothing is more depressing than seeing a childhood idol all washed up and in trouble. Case in point: I had the BIGGEST crush on David Hasselhoff in his Baywatch Days. Imagine my pain watching him in a Lifetime Movie last Christmas after all of his drunken shenanigans? My heart died a little...

  3. @Simply Suthern,
Tiger Beat! Now, THAT was a magazine. Ah, you liked cougahs before it was cool. :-)

    @thehouseofhale,
LOL! Wasn't there a video of him eating hamburger or something? Sorry for your loss.

"I know...I know. That would make him my brother but c'mon, it worked for Cathy and Chris in Flowers in the Attic a few years later. Why shouldn't it work for me?"

    Bwhahahahahahahahahah!

OMG, I have tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard.

Hey listen, I had crush on him as well. Also, Bobby Sherman and Desi Arnaz Jr. I though that if Desi and I ever dated and got married, Lucille Ball would be my mother-in-law!!!!

    Have a fab weekend, girl!

Hey, I was just looking up pictures of Desi now cuz he was so hot then...and I came across this blog you should check out, www.mybigfatcubanfamily.com

This woman tells how she met Desi and became friends with him. It's pretty cute!

  7. @The Roving Retorter,
Shut UP! Really? Well, I guess they aren't in syndication. When I was looking this up on YouTube, I saw that they have complete episodes there. You should watch one.

  8. Hell-o Kickie,

You hit a popular one, i see so quickly your posse of regulars added a comment. When i first saw the foto, i thought it was of Michael Fox. O, and i do remember how sweet and cute Laurie (Susan Dey) looked. I thought the show too saccharine and forcibly contrived, was it not paired with the Brady Bunch? Jan (Eve Plumb) was overlooked. I liked Marsha too.

Retreating to the decades past when i was wee lad, it was Elizabeth Montgomery (never understood the dopey Darrins, and what sort of given name is that?) and Julie Newmar that were something. I am sure there were more, but that suffices.

  9. @S,
All the 70's shows were forcibly contrived. That's what made them good! I agree, the Darrins were dope and Elizabeth Montgomery was so pretty. My best friend names her daughter Samantha after her character. No witchcraft powers, though. :-)
