Ahhh.....October

Friday, October 15, 2010

October is my favorite month of the year.

It has chillier temperatures, beautiful fall foliage, apple cider, pumpkins and Halloween. But there's one thing that you may not know about October.

It's National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

Now, don't worry, I'm not going to go all Sarah McLachlan on you.

Just asking that if you or your friends are considering a pet, that you think about adopting a shelter dog.

I did!

  1. Aww! I have a couple of friends who volunteer for an animal shelter here in town and I get to go play with the dogs from time to time. Cute pictures! --I love October as well, but I'm a bit biased in that it's my birhtday month! lol

  2. We dont have a shelter dog but we have two shelter cats.

    Our dog is the result of one night standand and unprotected sex. We dont tell her that and she doesnt know shes adopted. We never let her see a mirror.

    Bernie is adoreable.

  4. THANK YOU for not going all Sarah McLachlan. I can't change the channel fast enough when that commercial comes on. I wish I could paste a pic of my pound puppy, Bella. She's 10 mos old and the sweetest little girl. She's never met a person or dog she didn't like. Thanks for spreading the word. Shelter dogs RULE!

    Thank you for sharing it.

    All the pets I've evern owned have come from either shelters or the humane society, and they've been the best pets ever!

  6. Yep, Seamus the Famous is a shelter rescue as well. There are so many wonderful animals in shelters, I don't know why anyone would look anywhere else for a pet.

  7. @Yvonne,
    Happy Birthday Month! I've always thought about volunteering but they would have to kick me out at night. I would want to stay with them all.

    @Christopher Zimmerman,
    Yay!

    @Simply Suthern,
    You're too funny!

    @R. Jacob,
    It sure does, Dr. Doolittle!

    @Comet Girl,
    Bella! What a cute name.

    I know, it is really necessary for me to see a half dead dog? Show me a healthy one in a cage and I'll feel bad enough.

    @Ron,
    Good for you! They are the best. They truly appreciate you.

    @Teresa,
    I new Seamus the Famous had to be a rescue. He's the bomb!
